Losing weight

I have never thought I was a big guy. Growing up, I was that small kid, with a big mouth that made sure I had big friends. You know that kid.

But when I turned 34 (three years ago) I found out I had what I think could only be called a stroke. My entire body went numb three days in a row. I was rushed to the emergency room the first time and had a horrible experience at Mt Sinai in Astoria. Still, I went to the doctor because I had no other options.

I found out that my cholesterol was through the roof. It didn't help that I was 6 feet tall, but weighed 225 lbs. My diet was horrible, consisting of Mcdonalds and any other fast food I could do. I went on a major diet change and got down to 190.  It was shocking to hear I could have a heart attack at 34. 

Now three years later, I found myself back up to 210. I eat much better (but still not THAT healthy since I do no like veggies all that much). So I have been waiting for the stimulus check from the government and joined the gym two weeks ago. That combined with a calorie counting program I have, I have really tried to change the way I eat again and went to the gym. I even ate a salad a few days ago. I didn't love it, but I ate it. My girlfriend Natalie should get a medal for trying to get me to eat veggies. She is the only person that has ever gotten me to eat the following things: spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, and carrots on a decent basis.

So after going to the gym for two weeks, I am down to 203.5 lbs. I am so proud of myself and know I have a ways to go. My goal is to get to 185'ish and stay there. My energy level is up, and it is also helping me sleep.

I just wanted to throw my story out there. I know a lot of people in the world struggle with their weight and I just wanted to put my story out there as well.

I still have a long way to go, especially when it comes to eating healthier, but I am happy today.
