Yesterday I went to the Big Apple Con here in NYC. I was going to do a few things:
After getting there I managed to find the table that SOTC was being run on and started chatting up with the guy that ran the game. I signed up for the game and sat down (with two other players) and started looking at the pre-generated characters that were made. We only had a 1030-2 slot, so making characters was kind of out of the equation.
Off we went. I was a plucky reporter for the Century Club and with me was a pilot from the midwest and a professor. It was a good time we ended up going to Instanbul to find what happened to the Spear of Destiny. Along the way we managed to kill some nazis, a large gorilla and save the day. It was cut short because of the time constraints, but overall it was a nice introduction to SOTC. I look forward to playing it again. The other nice thing was that I met one of the people I have been trying to set up a game with. So that was cool as well.
There was another game I had hoped to play that has been created by
indie_insurgent called Misspent Youth. Reading about it had peaked my interest and I wanted to meet him anyways (he had playtested the Dresden Rpg, and I wanted info). So I hung around and met Rob and then played his game. It is a game where children 12-17 are created and they have to fight the "man". Sort of like big brother but you get to sit around and create the antagonist as a group. There were four of us and we came up with a corp that is stealing the dreams of children for their own nefarious reasons. Bwaahahah!
The game is very different from things I have normally played. But there was some cool moments. My favorite was when I grabbed the wheelt of the hovercar and crashed it into our school, therefore rescusing one of our party from an A.I. that was going to read his mind and then they would know what our plans were. The game is very risk vs reward, and that really worked. I love the chance to play this again.
1. Meet some of the people from Nerd Nyc
2. Play or watch a game of Spirit of the Century

Overall, had a great time. Met some new people, and look forward to seeing them again soon.
